About us
With roots stretching back more than ten generations of flower growers, the van der Zwet family originate from Lisse, Netherlands - home to the iconic Keukenhof Tulip Festival.
In 1956, an Australian chapter began, with John and Eugenia van der Zwet migrating to Australia, where they began cultivating a wide variety of bulb lines in the Monbulk region of Victoria.
Cut flower production continued to increase in area and volume, by the second generation (Michael and Carly van der Zwet). Sales began to be marketed under the name Maxiflora™, quickly becoming one of the nation’s leading flower producers.
Today, Maxiflora thrives, producing diverse floral species which are sustainably grown, nurtured, and harvested - now under the stewardship of brothers Angus, Oscar, and Hunter, who carry the family business into a new generation.
In 2023, Maxiflora acquired the Dutch breeding company Moerman Anthurium, leading to the creation of Maxiflora International. Today, Maxiflora International operates as a global plant distribution company, supplying directly from its laboratories in Holland and Sri Lanka.
