At the heart of our operations is a commitment to sustainability—one that guides every decision we make.

We believe that true innovation is more meaningful when it supports both environmental responsibility and long-term efficiency.

  • Since 1996, we have implemented a water and fertiliser recycling system that remains in use today. After our plants absorb the necessary water, we collect the remaining runoff, which is then filtered, treated, and reused. This process allows us to significantly reduce water usage while also preserving valuable nutrients. By recycling the water, we’ve cut our fertiliser use by 50% compared to the levels used in the early 90s.

  • Our use of glasshouses reflects a long-term commitment to sustainable and efficient growing practices. Unlike plastic greenhouses, glasshouses  have a much longer lifespan - lasting 40 years or more, compared to approximately 3 years for standard plastic covers. Glass also offers far greater insulation, helping to reduce our energy consumption by minimising heat loss.

Additionally, while plastic coverings do not break down and contribute to environmental waste, glass is fully recyclable and reusable, making it a more sustainable choice for the future of horticulture.

  • In the last 5 years, Maxiflora has successfully reduced all plastic packaging by 90%.
